Description
The Cockscomb (鸡冠花) has a crested flower which strongly resembles a rooster’s bright red cockscomb, hence the namesake. The rooster is also considered an auspicious animal that can ward of evil spirits with its call in the morning. The chinese word for chicken (鸡) also rhymes with luck (吉), further making the Cockscomb plant a traditional favorite.
